Derbyshire captain Shan Masood has opened up about the clash against India, claiming that it is every Pakistani cricketers’ dream to come up against the arch-rivals but for him, it is only a cricket match.
Speaking to Paktv ahead of the warm-up game against India, Shan said: “I know that the Pakistan-India rivalry has a lot of significance, and playing against India is a big moment for Pakistani players. But at the end of the day, this is a cricket game and a big opportunity for me.”
The warm-up game is scheduled as part of India’s preperations for the upcoming white-ball series against England. Both teams are set to play three ODIs and as many T20Is during the tour.
Former Multan Sultans captain spoke highly of India’s squad depth as India sent two seperate teams to England for red-ball and white-ball cricket.
“India has an incredible team, and they are currently touring with seperate red-ball and white-ball teams, so they have a lot of talent and many world-class players,” said Shan.
On a personal note, Shan claimed that since India’s team has a number of world-class players, it will be a huge opportunity for him to showcase his development as a player in recent times.
“As a cricketer, I look at this match as an opportunity because I will get to play against some top cricketers, which will help grow my cricket. I am just looking at this as a cricket match,” said Shan.
In a response to a question about pressure, Shan stated that it is just another game of cricket and he will try his utmost best to pile on as many runs as he can.
